The SCPA is a physician-led group guided by an Executive Steering Committee comprised of physician representatives from hospitals and health systems across the state with one common goal: clinical excellence.

Executive Steering Committee

  • Dr. Chris Carr

    MUSC HEALTH

“Formally engaging physicians, providing needed development opportunities and establishing a structured physician network will create the environment here in South Carolina for physicians to grow, become engaged in areas of interest and lead.”

  • Dr. Jon Gleason

    PRISMA HEALTH

“Collaboration among physician leaders can be a powerful force to improve care delivery in South Carolina.”

  • Dr. Brent Powers

    LEXINGTON MEDICAL CENTER

“I love the increasing opportunities for physicians to lead in South Carolina healthcare decisions. Yet we need collaboratives that facilitate group development and learning. SC Physician Alliance creates a unified entity to support these collaboratives and engage issues important to SC physicians.”

  • Dr. Phil Dulberger

    TIDELANDS HEALTH

“Healthcare is a physician-led activity, and it is my hope that SCPA will align the voice of physician leaders within SC healthcare and SCHA. Together, this is a powerful force to transform healthcare to deliver best-quality care and value to our patients across the state.”

  • Dr. Paul Richardson

    CONWAY MEDICAL CENTER

“As a Chief Medical Officer, I feel as though I can positively affect the care within our health system, but to affect healthcare on a more statewide scale requires an organized and purposeful effort. The SC Physician Alliance fills this void and provides all physicians an opportunity to have major impacts beyond their usual spheres of influence.”

  • Dr. Brad Mock

    ANMED

“I believe the South Carolina Physicians Alliance is a great opportunity to bring together physicians in leadership roles across the state to collaborate and learn from each other, as well as create some educational opportunities for rising leaders.”

  • Dr. Matt Logan

    SELF REGIONAL HEALTHCARE

“When I became the Chief of Staff at my hospital, I found that there were few opportunities to engage with my colleagues across the state. It’s a rewarding job, but also can be isolating. Now as President and CEO of my health system, I recognize the importance of establishing a network for physician leaders to learn from one another – and that’s what the SCPA is about.”

  • Gayle Resetar

    TIDELANDS HEALTH

“Health systems across our state are rapidly becoming integrated delivery systems. I am thrilled to see an infrastructure to support our health system physician leaders. I believe this new organization will pave the way for strong alignment supporting our common goals in quality improvement and health care policy advocacy.

  • Dr. Pat Cawley

    MUSC HEALTH

“What American health care needs most is ongoing transformation to ensure access, quality, safety, effectiveness, equity, and patient centeredness but this must be driven by physician leadership. The goal of SCPA is to build and support physician leaders.”

  • Dr. Matt Johnson

    MCLEOD HEALTH

“As a physician leader, I welcome the opportunity to engage with other leaders to help solve the complex problems of delivering high-value healthcare to all the citizens of South Carolina. The SCPA will help bring together the different players that have a stake in helping to shape access, affordability, sustainability, and quality.”

  • Thornton Kirby

    SCHA

“With the rise of large health systems, it’s more important than ever that we provide a venue for South Carolina’s physician leaders to convene, collaborate and share best practices. By working together as a hospital and physician community, we can help lead SC to a better state of health.”
